What is Requirements Matrix?

A requirements matrix is a structured comparison that maps each requirement in a job description to evidence in a candidate's CV.

Recruiters sometimes build matrices manually for shortlists; analytical hiring teams use spreadsheets or ATS reports. Rows list requirements; columns list candidates; cells note fit strength or supporting bullet references.

Job seekers can replicate the technique privately before applying. Extract every essential requirement from the JD, then locate a bullet or skills line that proves each one. Empty cells flag tailoring work or honest gaps.

Matrices reveal keyword-only matches versus substantive evidence. Listing 'Agile' in skills without a delivery bullet is weaker than citing a sprint you led.

Cvaluate automates much of this mapping when you supply a job description, surfacing aligned and missing requirements quickly. Use the output as an edit list, not as encouragement to invent experience.
